Sports activity Horse Nationals Spots 10 Season Milestone

Arabians, Half-Arabians and Anglo-Arabians from 28 states and two Canadian provinces will perform in dressage, hunter/jumper, sport horse under saddle, sport horse in-hand, and carriage pleasure driving, entertaining horse enthusiasts with excellent conformation and suitability as working sport horses. After a great turnout in 2011, Sport Horse Nationals will again offer the A/HA/AA 14.2 & Under Working Hunter Exhibition. The class highlights the new division of working hunter horses measuring 14.2 hands or smaller.
Aurora, CO (August 21, 2012) – The Sport Horse National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show at the Idaho Horse Park in Nampa, Idaho, September 19-22, features the breed at its athletic best. The youngest of the four national shows produced by the Arabian Horse Association (AHA), Sport Horse Nationals celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year as the only breed-specific sport horse national show in the country. Marking their appreciation for the amateur majority that makes up exhibitors, the Sport Horse Nationals Show Commission will offer daily opportunities to win prizes via a drawing.
On Saturday, September 22, the evening performance features Carriage Pleasure Driving Pick Your Own Route, Carriage Pleasure Timed Obstacles, Sport Horse In-Hand Supreme Champion, Sport Horse Show Hack and Sport Horse Under Saddle.The celebration will culminate at the Annual Progressive Barn Party on Thursday, September 20, from 7 – 9 p.m.Barns sign-up to participate ahead of time and are included on a grounds map that highlights the food and beverage provided by each barn, as well as their location, as tradition dictates. exhibitors and Spectators are encouraged to browse each barn to visit their fellow sport horse taste and enthusiasts test the smoked salmon of the northwest or the potato concoctions provided by the hometown crowd. Free wine will be offered in a central location, sponsored by Markel Insurance.

Nationwide Length Championships Mix and Coincide

Competition starts Tuesday, October 27 with the AHA National Tournament 100-Mile Stamina Journey, along with about three coinciding AERC endurance trips; 100-distance, 50-mile and 25-mile. The AHA National Tournament competing pathway ride (CTR) covers two time, October 28-29. The last days of federal competition will feature the AHA Nationwide 50-Mile Stamina Trip, plus a 50-distance and 25-distance AERC sanctioned journey on October 30. The Ozark Region Endurance Riders (OCER) will host a Halloween night specific, Witch Way Drive, on October 31 as well.

Also a novice to the Distance National Championships is the chance to earn Designated Sweepstakes winning prize dollars. A horse can earn Allocated Money if a horse is competing in the National 100-Mile Endurance Ride or the National Competitive Trail Ride. Assigned Sweepstakes reward finances are in addition to the Sweepstakes Points Program dollars, which requires twelve-monthly enrollment ahead of the occasion.

The days of the Countrywide Distance Championships coincide with that of your United states Nationals inOklahoma and Tulsa, about an hour or so and half away, providing horse fanatics in Oklahoma a great deal to watch in October. Youth Nationals Achieves One more Profitable Calendar year

A total of 1,024 horses proved at this particular year’s function producing for 3,126 class entries. The biggest class was the Arabian Hunter Satisfaction Junior to Trip, throughout the 14 to17 12 months age group, with 98 horses demonstrated. DA Salvatore , ridden by Katie Pelphrey and owned by Adrienne Hancock-Leong of Louisville, Ky. acquired the Championship headline for the class, although Srwdoalittledance /, properties of Samantha Jo and Laura Sahagian and ridden by Samantha Jo Sahagian of Wrightwood, Calif. had taken residence Hold Champ honors.

This year’s Youth Software fundraisers, which included a fresh Electric guitar Hero Competition plus a consignment transaction, earned $3,500 dollars for that Arabian Horse Youngsters Association (AHYA). In addition, AHYA guaranteed a brand new Youngsters Sponsor. Common Trailers got aboard as being a sponsor on July24 and 2008, contributing a 2009 E S20 Exiss Sport activity 2-Horse bumper draw, slant fill trailers to the twelve-monthly youth raffle fundraiser. Finally, annalise Himmel from Schriever, La. was elected the 2009 President of AHYA during the annual Youth Convention.

The Youngsters Countrywide Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Demonstrate (Youth Nationals) recognized its 16th year in Albuquerque, N.M., at Expo New Mexico, July 26 through August 2. The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) of Aurora, Colo., creates the weeklong occasion that features top rated–level horse display competition, a buying expo, the once-a-year Younger years Meeting and delivers an estimated $11.2 mil to Albuquerque.

In the Beginning…

June 1975: Diane Hart and Janis Topham sat down and made a list of all the Arabian horse owners in the area. The list consisted of approximately 40 people. They contacted people and suggested that we might like to meet and form a club. The initial meeting was held at Diane’s home in San Antonio, with a large turnout in response to their calls.

Janis and Diane planted the seeds of their plan and they grew. We have these two ladies to thank for the Alamo Arabian Horse club. 

August 1975: A meeting was held at the home of Dr. Leo Cuello to elect the first officers. First President – Bill Allen; 1st VP – Shorty Clark; 2nd VP – Diane Hart; Treasurer – Terry Topham; Secretary – Judy Anderson. Board members: Art Snell, Ginny Nokes and Jeanene Pegg. 

Art Snell was in charge of Trail Rides, Dr. Cuello – Youth, Ginny Nokes – Public Relations and the Newsletter. Asst. – Vicki Leach.

October 1975: We applied to IAHA as an affiliate club.

February 1976: We were approved and became active in Region IX activities. 

October 1975 (76?): Our first newsletter was printed and mailed to the members.

November 1976: The club put on its first horse show. Also, in November 1976, the AAHA Quadrille was formed. It was headed by Cindy Joiner. The quadrille was made up of 10-12 people. the group worked hard and became quite popular. They performed not only at our horse shows and club events, but were invited to show at other events as well. 

The club was quite active with functions for its members. Clinics, trail rides, dinner meetings with lectures, mini shows, etc. and club picnics were planned to enable the club to grow in knowledge and spend time together in fellowship. 

The club Activity Chairman was responsible for having an activity planned for the members each month.

A look back …  

Certainly the most famous Arabian horse in the world is Walter Farley’s “Black Stallion.” The Alamo Arabian Horse Association was priviledge to count Cass Ole, who played the Black Stallion, along with his human family as members. One of our current board members, Margo Shallcross, worked at San Antonio Arabians when Cass was starring in the movie and she handled Cass on tour and they did Sunday exhibitions for the public at Dr. Leo and Dr. “V” Cuello’s farm on Bitters Road. Francesca “Frannie” Cuello was Cass’s partner in the show ring and Walter Chapman, also a longtime AAHA member, trained him to show.
